Carb slide spring length?
What is the standard length of the slide springs? Reason why i ask is that I have several sets and they're all different lengths! I can get a set together where the springs are all the same length but I don't if they are they are correct and I'm guessing that this is going to be extremely important in determining how quickly the slide rises and falls?

There you go - I ot a few slide springs and it seems there is a teeny couple of mm in them difference. I reckon that they are all the same animal but have had different lives...
Spike - you want the metal top cap, or the plastic thingy as per the top slides picture? I have carbs in pieces all over the spot so let me know what you want and we can sort it out.
rock on

Wunderbar! Thanks Mark. Some of mine have a 20mm difference between them! Spike, I have the plastic cap needle holder thingmejiggle if you need one or two and the spring shouldn't be a problem so long as they are the right length
. PM me your address and I'll get them out to you tomorrow if you like.

No worries matey. I'll guess you need someone with HRC slide springs to get you a pic and confirm if they are shorter or not??
I have some HRC springs for the RVF but they nowt like the VFR anyways..

Re: Carb slide spring length?
CMSMJ1, Would you be interested in selling those Slides with the rounded off bottom. Im having my Carbs set up fully and properly tuned a bit soon and think that would help a lot if I had them! How much would you sell them for? Perhaps the SLides, needles and Needle holders if there not too much?

Re: Carb slide spring length?
Afraid not my good man. They are going on my race bike when I get around it. I am going for the HRC wannabe setup as per Martin and others...and the slides took me a long while to source!
If you want some normal ones I'll swap them over this week?
I also have some needles and holders if you want anything like that?

Re: Carb slide spring length?
It would be nice but I'm not even sure whether HRC did slide springs for the VFR as I can't find any reference in any manuals for them. That's what's got me wondering exactly what I have. The ones that are shorter are that much shorter that they couldn't possibly have been compressed that much from use. You never know someone may have just put RVF springs in there instead, are they shorter? hmmmmmmm......CMSMJ1 wrote:No worries matey. Re: Carb slide spring length?
RVF springs are half the diameter easily - more pinky than thumb sized.
They may have been chopped?
I'll try to find my RVF springs and stick a pic on...but cannot recall where I have put them..lol
