Right place, at the right time..... pic added
One of the biggest fears I have when it comes to my RVF400 isn't crashing it- because it's pretty much a given. It is not having any parts for it since I can't go to any dealer or salvage yard to get parts if/when it breaks. This weekend I walked into one of my favorite motorcycle shops here in Japan and my wallet instantly lit on fire. Up Garage is the name of the store and it is basically a Pawn shop for motorcycle parts and apparel. I frequent them as often as I can because no one know when someone will bring in the parts I'm looking for.
This time they had a complete Engine, carbs and airbox included. The only reservations I had about buying it was that they didn't have Mileage and didn't know if it worked
. Visually it looked sound, and looked pretty much like every other RVF engine I had seen in Japan, but eventually logic took over and I told a sales person to get it off the shelf for purchase.
The next item I found was sitting outside on one of the racks that held frames, and sure enough the shape of one of the frames caught my eye. I spied the tag and decided I wanted the the dirty, unkept, and corroded frame too
.
Since my wallet had been on fire the whole time I decided to pay for my items and be on my way. So far it's the best find to date at a total of 16900 Yen. 6900 Yen for the frame, and 9999 for the engine. To save you the hassle of google-ing conversion rates, it's around $172.00 USD/108.00GBP
.
If this keeps up I'll have a whole spare bike.... or a track bike....

I mentioned the fairing on here (original red, white and blue) and was dissuaded from investing - though have just spent a small fortune on some "new" panels on yahoo japan in my bike colours, thankfully I'm lucky enough to have a friend in Kobe to sort out translations, place bids and anything thing else that may pop up.
