so yesterday started off well,i remembered i had a few more bits to get so set about finding those,30 mins riding around on the bike got me a new sump bung washer and a
huge nut to help remove the standard oil filter stub.
my
assistant(some might remember him for other experiments like the "bi carb bomb" and "bi carb as a rust eater") told me he would surface from his hangover around 12 so i set about sawing the
huge nut in two with the smallest junior hacksaw i could find in the garage and began stripping the bodywork from the bike.
20 mins late i had arms like BA baracus and two nuts in my hand (way hey) to remove the stub.
once stu arrived we hit it with all the force a dude with a hangover and a guy with a sore arm could muster....coolant out...oil out...rad removed and the two nuts on the stub.....bish,bash,bosh.... stub in the hand ....two nuts attached, this i can't take any credit for as i was making tea and eating biscuits and stu was doing his best...

next up was fitting the exchanger, stephen had told me make sure you locktight the centre bolt in as we really don't want this to come loose and locktighted in it was, then the sky man rapped the door to fit my new sky plus stuff, sweet, could this day get any better ,i'm half way to fitting my oil cooler and some dude is hooking me up with sky tv.
after this nothing really went to plan.
no sky card meant no sky plus until it arrives and thats hopefully going to be monday or tuesday but the biggest kick in the nuts the the blasted fan.

we screwed on the oil filter and jigged about the exhaust so there was clearance between the header and the filter, refitted the fan and the inch bracket to extend the lower mounting and swung the rad forward, but that left very little clearance between the tyre and the rad so i tried to refit the bodywork to make sure it was all going to mount and line up ,which it didn't...so off came the bodywork and off came the fan.

we hooked up the pump cover and attached all the piping, filled the rads with coolant and the motor with oil and started up the bike.after we bleed the rads of air and topped them up the last thing to do was fit the bodywork for the last time and run the bike up the road...then the next and maybe the biggest kick in the nuts. the barb that comes out of the pump cover interfers with the bodywork....are you serious .....

a quick email and a few measurements should have a new shorter MKII version made but becasue of this i can't run the bike to tell you guys what i think of it.sh1t or what.
so this experiment has been a fail and "must try harder" ,once the shorter barb comes i'll refit it all and let you know how it goes,to be honest i'm a little pi55ed off i couldn't keep the fan as this was half the reason why i set about doing this mod but unless i ( or someone else) can find a thinner fan there is no way a stock fan rvf or vfr is fitting in there,so maybe this is a mod for the racers or the crazy few that run a street bike without a rad fan (that'll be me then) but once the new barb is made and fitted i'll be back on here.
sorry for the
fail guys...
