I have one on my NC...speedy231278 wrote:Yes, if you look at some pics that were posted on here a while ago (maybe a in the for sale bit?) there were pics of an NC30 racebike with a whopping great cylinder in the tail and two large hoses which seemed to go back to the airbox and the crank breather. Cue me being wrong and it being something entirely different...

Got mine today, k and n along with the breather filter, looks good, took about 20 minutes to convert!
What do you do with the hole left by using a breather filter in the air box/tray set up?
Great thread, thanks

Going back to the instructions. Really silly question but cutting off the left or right shoulder, is that a clearance thing for the new panel? It's a little hard to tell from the pics exactly how the removed part would have looked while still attached. I guess it'll become clear once doing the task....

Yes, the panel K&N is a few mm too wide hence the cutting of the inner shoulder of the housing.
It does not fall through though as the K&N has a large lip at the top where you apply silicone to make it stick/seal to the housing.
Hope this helps

Re: Howto: K&N Filter for NC30
Makes sense. It'll make even more sense when the panel arrives, assuming I can find the old filter/s that I should have lurking about. I've always had a one or two 'spare' old ones knocking about from donkey's tears ago when I first saw people putting different elements in them and figured that one day I might have to do the same.... Granted, it's not necessary yet, but I figure as I'm making changes to the carbs, it makes sense to do it now, and at the end of the day the K+N element costs roughly the same as a genuine filter, and in theory shouldn't need replacing again!

Re: Howto: K&N Filter for NC30
I got my panel last week, and the whole shoulder thing became immediately apparent, didn't take too long to do, so now I just need to find a tube of suitable gunge to stick the panel in. I'm sure I can find some silicon knocking about somewhere....
As for the images not showing, I don't suppose you've reordered or moved any of your Photobucket galleries? For some stupid reason, the way they organise the files means that if you rename or move anything, it breaks the direct link because rather than give all images a static location based on an id number and the account id, they give an address based on the filename and album... :s
