That's not large enough for stator wiring, it works out at 14AWG. Ideally you want 10AWG (5.26mm sq) or larger.Neosophist wrote:2mm square should be fine for most things.

Bikemonkey, domestic cable is a no no. Use proper automotive cable

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

I consider myself told off then
So I need some 5.26mm sq for the stator and reg/rec plug wiring then?
@CMSMJ1, yeah I did use it as stator wiring.....

Either 14AWG or 6mm sq. that's the nearest metric equivalent
Try and get the extra flexible silicone stuff and some fibreglass braided sleeve as well to protect it from any heat.

Re: More electrical testing....
Problem now solved by my new proper wiring, bike is charging its self at idle like it used to
Hopefully I shall read things properly next time and not create long threads out of being a numpty with a previously shit soldering iron. Thanks to Steve (thunderace) for a recommendation on a good soldering iron

What soldering iron did you get? I've got a cheap one from Maplin but it's a bit shit.
