That's not large enough for stator wiring, it works out at 14AWG. Ideally you want 10AWG (5.26mm sq) or larger.

Bikemonkey, domestic cable is a no no. Use proper automotive cable :peace:

So I need some 5.26mm sq for the stator and reg/rec plug wiring then?



@CMSMJ1, yeah I did use it as stator wiring.....

Either 14AWG or 6mm sq. that's the nearest metric equivalent :peace:

Try and get the extra flexible silicone stuff and some fibreglass braided sleeve as well to protect it from any heat.

Problem now solved by my new proper wiring, bike is charging its self at idle like it used to :grin:

Hopefully I shall read things properly next time and not create long threads out of being a numpty with a previously shit soldering iron. Thanks to Steve (thunderace) for a recommendation on a good soldering iron :up:

What soldering iron did you get? I've got a cheap one from Maplin but it's a bit shit.

I got a antex xs25 with the silicon flexible wire, it's so much better than my old draper cheapy from the local autostore :peace:
