Quite rightly I don't think maintenance was kept up, just sat in a garage and give it a kick and use it for a day while it works and back in garage, it must be loving all these new parts and oils!

I think changing brake lines is something I could attempt, is it a difficult job? Any special tools needed?

not having the space to own your own tools is nonsense, this set a set of screwdrivers and a hammer is almost all you will ever need for basic maintenance.

No really you obviously haven't seen where I keep my bike, there's a wardrobe to oneside, a bench and some other material covered bench type thing to the other side, the garage door to the rear and a chair, box, lawn mower etc etc to the front...also who said I have £100, feel free to donate it though!! I have a toolset from halfords in africa, you could fetch them for me? £700 return ticket, have a blast while you're there if i miss just 2 days off work I don't make rent so I'm afraid I can't come with

as for manning up, I'm ex infantry/armed response qualified in africa/ex armed aviation security in africa etc etc...think that arguments over before it starts

Havent you nearly spent £100 at the garage by the time youve paid for plugs and coolant?

If you really dont know what you are doing with the mechanics of the bike, get a haynes manual and start doing the daily/weekly checks. you can get the few tools you need as you go along rather than spending lots all at once.

I wouldnt bother with a paddockstand yet for doing your chain, just use a couple of bricks under the main section (not the end can) of the exhaust will be enough to get the wheel off the ground.

I have a haynes manual, I always have one for every bike lol, as for bricks, I don't even have a car licence its always bikes, surely a good paddock stand is a good investment, since ive ridden bikes my whole life and continue to do so...even the pedal ones!

I also clean the wheels alot of chain lube and brake dust and dirt as well so that'd be alot easier, but funds say no right now anyway, the motorcycle trousers i want are £160, haven't got them yet either and the only injury's ive had in accidents have been to knees...lol

I totally agree that a paddockstand would be a good investment. as would tools. You just dont really seem to be listening to the advice.

You are sending your bike to a dealer to get the plugs replaced so yes you must have money to burn as for what i costs its 1/2 price you could probably sell it again for what you paid for it when you leave and it's a small box of spanners ffs you telling me you sleep in this shed as well where the hell are you going to keep the paddock stand? As for not being able to afford it you want to buy a pair of trousers for £160 wtf? This time of year will get you some 2nd hand leathers from eBay....protection sorted, hmmmmmmm now what could you do with the other £100.

as for being a bit more on topic rather than attacking people over the internet...

bikes back, work was excellent, bike runs even better than before, thanks to those that gave me information. I do not regret sending the bike to Honda. They did a few extra things/put little parts on for free.

Dude I'm not attacking you just pointing out holes in your argument, you say you don't have the space to keep tools, you do, you say you have nowhere to work on the bike, you do, you plead poverty yet harp on about buying a reasonably new bike, you ask for advise, then don't take it.

There is nothing to be ashamed of sending your bike to a dealer but you could have saved yourself a small fortune.
