The Rothmans bike is an RC30.

From 1988 all the factory TT-F1 RVF's were based on the RC30. Rignt up untill '93 they all shared a common crank cases but the RVF used different heads and gear trains compaired to the "standard" race RC30 (non RVF's) as well as Ign systems and carb etc etc.

This only changed when the RC45 was introduced.

The holes in the fairings are not for cooling, they are to allow the bike to be turned quicker and help keep them stable in side winds. You'll see most 250's at Phillip Island have drilled fairing but no where else during the season for this reason.

thats what i thought the drilled fairings were for too, didnt quite understand what you were all on about with having it for cooling, practically the whole 125 grip have holes the size of swiss cheese in their fairings at the british gp this year because it was so wind, they stop the fairings acting like a sail in the wind and pushing the bikes arround as much

I think i may give this a go when i get my track day fairings but there's no way il do it to my freshly painted originals

reguardless of the reason behind them surely any holes in the sides panels will let some heat out and do what is wanted of them...

i'd still say go for it mark,at best you'll have less sidewind effect on the bike and you might just run a little cooler ....

Don't worry..the drill and my track panels are going to get friendly this weekend... The panels are in a shonky state anyways so if I ruin them I won't be bothered...

if i could get those holes, in that place ,on my panels ,i'd love it long time,surely it would bring heat temps down a bit
