First of all i would like to thank you for your comments, good or bad.
I am just a simple rider who will enjoy anything that has to do with fixing upgrading or finding new things.
The good wire quality has nothing to do with higher loads and such things.Did i mention something like that?
I am not building a nasa satellite.
The fact that the small currents will flow better through this wiring has nothing to do with how much load can these wires take.Are these wires used only when high loads are required?
I find your comments "tacky and outstanding" a little bit controversial.

Well that is why I should and do try to keep my opinions to myself, most of the time. My reference to tacky applies to what I have seen in various threads on the internet, and is not directed at anyone in particular. The internet being what it is, an open forum, means that one can often see situations where the blind are leading the blind. Having said that, I think the standard on the greybike forum is quite high. As for 'outstanding', no harm giving praise where it is deserved. On to the wire question. You did not mention anything about loads. I am no expert in these matters. I just had access to military spec wire at one time so I used it and experimented a bit with cable sizes. I am just interested to know if you can use a thinner section of wire for the same application.

No you SHOULD speak your mind weather its a bad or a good comment. Just "give a little room for explaining" if someone is not familiar with certain expressions.

To answer your question about these wires. From my knowledge these wires might give you a little room for "error", when i say error i mean that instead of using 18awg wire you can use 20awg wire and that's it (and it always depends on the application), no more no less. The general rule (and what everyone should follow) is what tolerances are given by the manufacturer of the certain wire. Different wires have different tolerances. One should ALWAYS check before proceeding.
Now, what i did, was to replace each honda wire with the exact size of teflon wire.
In one case, (this case was the cdi wires) the original wires where a little bit thicker than the wire available.So, i used 20awg rather than lets say 19awg that was the original.
Keep in mind that where there are high loads the thicker ,the better.

Just trying to get a handle on voltage drop with Spec 55
using http://www.simpsondonald.co.uk/download ... ndstra.pdf for resistance values and this formula
Voltage Drop = Amps * (2 * Wire Length * Specific Resistance)
assume
12 volts
5 amp draw
1 metre of 18 gauge (20.5 ohms per km)
= Voltage Drop of 0.205 volts
Is that anything like correct?
One more question. Did you consider using relays for the heavily loaded circuits?

I think you should have a drop of 0.18 volts. (But it will always depend on conditions and application)maelstrom wrote: Is that anything like correct?

Yes i did use relays for my high and low beams.

Thanks. As that connector is now not showing up on their Web site, I think it probably did "go extinct"! I have a couple of spare wiring looms for various Hondas (most used the same connectors), though, so I'll be fine. So how many people now want a new wiring loom/harness for there 400?
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....
