could it just be the exhaust its self , i have a tsr half system and and when cold it does rattle, its just the pipes them selves resonating and gets less as they heat up,
however during my strip down for my rebuild i noticed the rear manafold was'nt really that tight when i removed it so im guessing that could be the cause of the tinny rattle on my bike , wont know till its all back together and i fire it up as the gaskets for the manafold have been replaced and its a lot tighter than it was when it came off, but im guessing its just the nature of the pipes to do that and its something ive learnt to live with

Hi, strangley mine NC30 started doing this like it was pinking at low RPM i tried richening it up a bit made know differance, checked the valve clearences made no differance, changed oil to full synthetic and it went away! I still recon it was pinking but why i dont know, gonna strip the carbs totally over the weekend hopefully just to make sure and need to change jetting anyway.
I running castrol fully synth BIKE oil, think it called power one or something, and before everybody says dont use it , my clutch does slip at all!
Hope it helps.
Cheers
Ian

Starter clutch? That'd rattle at idle too, though.
You need to identify where it's coming from. Could be anything from a dodgy bearing on the clutch to a rattley fairing that only makes itself known at certain revs.
