Are you gonna use that 10 gallon drum in the scary pile for a fuel tank billy? I think you may have trouble seeing over it and the advantage of having a light 2 stroke may well be lost....

More degreasing today and the frame is now clean and up on the bench it just needs a bit more time spent with some proper alloy cleaner to get the stubborn dirt that's engrained in the rough part of the swingarm.
It's now out with the wet and dry to get the scratches out of the swingarm and I will be ordering my scotchbrite pads tomorrow.

Most of the stuff that's going for powder coat is ready just need to get the front wheel bearings out.

It's coming along nicely.

Bearings out wheels, sidestand, rad guard and a couple of brackets in for powdercoat, money has gone out for my engine bits and bike is on the bench with a big bag of wet n dry paper ready...

this is moving along quickly!!

The bike is looking awesome, I have a shabby version of the Rothmans nc23 I've put a link too in 'graphics and style' of the CBR section as my current road bike and I love any bike in this paint scheme.
I'm currently living in Nottingham and was wondering if you know anywhere that can do shot blasting and powdercoating around here?
I have a project bike as well in London, but my projects never move very quickly as I'm usually pretty skint, hopefully this summer I will be able to make some good progress though.
Good luck with the rest of this project, I've been keeping my eye on it

well a day spent with the polishing mop yesterday to get the swingarm back to the metal I now have a day on sunday wet and drying to try and get some of the scratches out and depending on how that goes I may even get some of the scotchbriting done.

oh and spent another £60 today on crank seals, oil and mirror rubbers!!

Booked in with the man on Monday 29th its all good (and a little pricey!!)

still waiting for the powdercoating and stuff ordered from Jap4 though, its not like I dont have anything to do!!

pent most of the day wet n drying the worst of the scratches out of the swingarm, I didnt go to far but I am quite chuffed to have the effect that I wanted..

There are still a few scratches but you have to know when to stop otherwise I will end up with a load of furows in the arm as it was in pretty shabby state.





I can always do some more to it next winter as I have so much to do coming up its gonna be hard finding time to work on the bike and I do want to ride it this year.

spent a bit of time going over the last bits on the frame with some alloy cleaner and it now pretty much done.





then I moved on to cleaning up all the bits that came off the bike and they all came up pretty well.





now all I have to do is degrease this lot while I wait for the powdercoat and bits to arrive from Jap4 and Lings.

Billy, in the top pic it looks like theres a crack on the weld? Guessing its just the light. You have more "products" than boots there! Hope your thumbs are ok.

it really is worth doing the swingarm like that,i did mine the same last year.takes a bit of dedication mind and you lose a few mm off your fingers
