What makes you think it's an nc24 engine?

Have you checked the engine number?

my engine number is nc13e 1059825

Are the ports blocked off then? All NC24's had an oil cooler.

Its deffo an NC24 engine so it should have the ports at the front by the starter motor.

Is it wearing the NC30 exhaust?

This is why I asked for pics... it is a proper mongrel and whoever made it must have had some skills!

Do the NC24 have the same stubby rear as the NC30? Would love to see some pics

I can't remember the 400 designation but could it be similar to the VFR750K RC37, ie the training model that (for the 750 version at least) was fitted with no oil cooler?

Yep, would have been a lot easier to put an nc30 engine in.

A 180 degree firing crank will give more power than big bang engines, the motogp engineers are well aware of this but choose big bang for the traction benefits.

At one stage Jeremy Burgess was quoted as saying big bang was detrimental to the tune of 10hp on one of their 990cc engines.

The difference in power between a 24 engine and a 30 engine is only due to development in my opinion.

Soooo... let's see a full house tuned nc24 engine making some big power!!

That should maybe been written as "more usable power" :-) at the expense of scavenging efficiency.
