Re: Just what is the correct battery for an NC23!?!?
It wouldn't need to be much smaller to fit. Its fouling on the battery leads, trapping them against the part of the subframe where the tank bolts to and I can't do much to move them out of the way. I got the old battery (smaller in height) out, I tilted it towards the rear of the bike and lifted it out. Doing the reverse of that with the new, supposedly correct battery, theres no chance it'll go. Also when we stretched the leads to try a YTX9 battery we already had it kept blowing the 30A main fuse. I'm really not convinced that its the correct battery. Would it not turn over with a smaller, less powerful one?
Thanks for all the help so far.

I'll have a look at mine tomorrow although its an NC23 RRK (89) and let you know the battery type and box measurements. Too dark to go down now and have a look.

Sorry for the delay. The battery in my NC23 RRK is a YTX9-BS and approximately 105mm high.
Either they changed the battery box from the J to the K models or yours has been changed.
Not sure what to suggest. I have tried looking for an NC23 box on ebay but no luck.

Thanks for taking the time to look! The battery box looks like its a proper job and looks like it belongs there. Just how tightly is your battery in there? Sorry to be a pain.geodudeft wrote:Sorry for the delay. The battery in my NC23 RRK is a YTX9-BS and approximately 105mm high.

No problem. Its snug but not overly cramped. There is a plastic L shape cover that sits around the top and down the front of the battery. Then there is a rubber securing thingymajig holds that in place.

Thats definitely missing. Hmmm... More research required. Why would the correct battery take the fuse before the key is even turned!?!?geodudeft wrote:There is a plastic L shape cover that sits around the top and down the front of the battery. How about this battery box on ebay item no: 250399882735
Then you know that the YTX9-BS battery will fit. Thats what battery is in both my nc23's.
