Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
I am running pilots on mine - fast road & track - they work a treat. The rear is a 160 profile - so it is designed to work with low bhp bikes, like the 400's, super moto's etc

You can babble tyres til the end of the earth, simple end of it is this:
commuter: BT45
often used for fun at w/e: BT92
only used at the w/e: BT090
Get them from Russ in Portsmouth, he's the only guy worth talking tyres to. Barely dearer than the www, and he'll fit them for you and sort you a cup of coffee while he does.

On the subject of speed ratings. For insurance AND safety purposes. You can go UP, but not DOWN.
I sell/fit tyres for a Job.
I'm running Pirelli supercorsa in a Z rating. Took them out today, They warmed up pretty quickly and stuck to the road like sh!t to a blanket.

Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
At the moment i'm using BT014 (ZR rating - 160 rear) but the next time i want to have some Pilot Powers.
And yes - in germany you can use ZR tires on 400 bikes.

Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
did you miss the "i commute" bit?
every single day, in all weathers....... no car or car licence. bike only, been like that for over 9yrs now.
the centre is squared off and has no tread left. plenty round the edges! had shite weather last summer to do corners right, then winter, had a few good days so far this yr.
i do a lot of duel carriageway/Main A roads to/from work + do occasional deliveries.
BT090 rear is NOT ideal for how i ride, i prefer BT092s on rear and 090 front.
