Good point, I didn't think of that, yet I had drank 6 beers ^_^
Isn't that somethign to do with thatchams approval scheme that to meet a certain catergory, all wires should be the same colour?SWIFT wrote:when they do it's a bit easier than the time we used to fit alarm/immobilisers where all cables were black!!

Re: Hello, All, and a question.
..........thanks, fastdruid, for your thoughts on the subject.
I have never considered HID and would probaably not go this route anyway, nor consider 100/80's a viable option for the reasons stated.
The original lamps are easily obtainable from David Silver's, and probably others, for the VFR's, and it's odd how you have difficulty in getting seemingly unusual ones for the 650s.
In both cars and 'bikes (up until this problem arose, that is, I have used the lamps known variously described as "Rally white" "Arctic white" etc., usually distinguished by a silver tip on the glass, and they give the whitest, brightest light I have found, and are not desparately expensive either.
All the fancy blues etc, do not give the user better light, and I, personally, think they are the most anti-social things if you're facing them.
I find it best, and prefer, to stick to white to the front, amber to the side (or indicators) and red to the rear (except number plate and reversing lamps, if a car). This also gives Mr.Plod one less excuse to stop you!! (as if they ever need one for stopping any 'bike!!)
A bit like my pet hate of those b****y flashing lights cyclists use which have an almost mesmeric effect. Use one on a motorcycle and you'd get pulled for sure, so why are they allowed to do it? Or ride on the pavement, and across red lights and pedestrian crossings when it suits them. Nobody stops them. They want, and seemingly get, the best of both worlds.
And by chance if they damage your car or 'bike, I'll bet it would be hell's own job to claim damages from them as they are probably not insured.
Incidentally, have you tried Robinson's Foundry in Kent for your 650s lamps? They seem to always come up trumps with Soozook bits for my neighbour's bikes when he needs them. Always prompt, friendly service, and prices not too bad overall.
I'm glad you mentioned the way LEDs fire up quicker - I thought it was my imagination, but obviously someone else has noticed it!!
Cheers -

IMO HID are anti-social, too bright.SWIFT wrote:..........thanks, fastdruid, for your thoughts on the subject.

It wasn't that I couldn't it was just that everywhere would have to order them in. 45/60w from memory. The original lamps are easily obtainable from David Silver's, and probably others, for the VFR's, and it's odd how you have difficulty in getting seemingly unusual ones for the 650s.
It was before I discovered DSS that I tried to get the bulbs for the NC35, doubt DSS would have any problems getting them!

Yeah, I tend to get most bits from my local suzuki dealer though, the slight extra is normally offset by the postage!
Not much point getting bulbs for the SV seeing as it's a track bike now! :D
It is/was one of the selling points for them.I'm glad you mentioned the way LEDs fire up quicker - I thought it was my imagination, but obviously someone else has noticed it!!
I've also noticed it when someone in a car is riding the brake/has a dodgy brake light switch and the LED middle light will flicker but the main brake lights wont come on apart from an occasional brief glow!
