It's very easy to use a BMW shock with a BMW link/rocker which works the shock as it does on the beemer. Works perfectly, gives you greater shock travel per MM of wheel travel (same as the HRC link) and requires minimal outlay at the machine shop. 2 spacers and a shortened BMW dogbone (or a lengthened NC30 one). I can post pics and a how to if anyone wants it.

You need to modify the dogbone so that the hole centres are 130mm or slightly longer if you do not want to raise the rear ride height. I had the BMW one modified which also involves reducing its width at the frame mount by 5mm each side. You can do this with a file if you seal up the needle bearings so they don't get full of filings. I had mine machined but you have to get the needle bearings out first which is a pain so filing is much easier. You can also just get the Honda one lengthened but it is much heavier. You then need 2 spacers for the top joint (under the swing arm) which are 5mm thick. Then it just bolts together. The BM uses 12mm bolts in all the mountings but the needle bearings are the same in the BM and the Honda so where you need to use the Honda bolts(at the swing arm and the dogbone frame mount) you just pop the inner race out of the Honda and swap is straight in the BM knuckle, hence the spacers. It's a really neat installation and works perfectly without re-springing or valving because the link ratio is correct for the shock.

Have you compared the mounting hole dimensions to the hrc link

I have not had an HRC one in my hand so I can only compare visually from the pics online. It looks very similar in terms of ratio. The centres on the BM are 70mm and 40mm, not sure what the HRC is. This pic shows the difference between the Honda and BM.

From memory that doesnt look far off the hrc link, i cant access mine at the minute but I'll take a look

Yep it is very similar, interesting that the HRC uses longer dog bone as well, I'd be interested to know what the hole centres of that are. Either way it provides the right stroke and ratio for the BMW shock. It's not quite as bling as a HRC set up but it can be done a hell of a lot cheaper.
