So thought id just do a little update on the progress on this and the problems i ran into + some shocking work that was undertaken on my front forks prior to ownership, excuse the pun
rebuilt forks - seals, new stanchion, powercoated.
rebuilt front and rear brake calipers.
new pads EBC sintered hh
braided brake hoses
powdercoated rear subframe.
powdercoated wheels.
new bearings all round.
new tyres bridgestone 090.
changed exhaust back to standard
polished top yoke and clip ons
oil, filters, coolant change
de-rust inside of petrol tank
cleaned the hell out of everything
Glad I did the forks myself as it appears some shoddy garage in Suffolk had changed one of the stanchions and fork internals for something else off a different bike, springs were different lengths and the damper was different too... I can only think that this is pretty damn dangerous as the forks will be rebounding at different rates and must of affected the handling. Its back to how it should be now though but to think this was done by a 'professional', dear o dear!
Will add some pics shortly.

My polished top yoke:
Forks off:
something not right here...
forks stripped:
sanded:
powdercoated and rebuilt with new seals:
Front callipers ready for stripping:
meanwhile:
starting to come together again:
I put the rear wheel back in last night but i notice the calliper carrier is in contact with the brake disc, the wheel still spins but there is some rubbing going on which is slightly worrying... still to mount the calliper itself though so i wonder if that will pull things in line.
Jobs to do:
mount front and rear brake callipers and lines pads etc
fit exhaust
fit tank and fix up the old fairings
still a fair bit of cleaning and painting to be done on various parts
source new fairings, thinking type 7
Then... MOT time!

Im pretty sure ive got all the spacers setup right:
I got a picture of it so you can see the problem:
This is how ive got it setup:
axel -> chain adjuster -> collar -> sproket carrier -> wheel -> collar -> calliper carrier -> chain adjuster -> nut
I dont think im missing anything?

Coming along nicely

keep us up to date. I have a NC23 which I'm trying to restore slowly whilst using as its a low funds operation haha

Cheers, im hoping it will all come together fairly quickly, just waiting on a few parts now.
Recently I tried to start it up after 5 months and it dumped about 2 litres of petrol out of the carb overflow. On inspection the fuel had gone bad (orange goo) and completely clogged carbs 1 and 2. So I've now got the carbs off and in pieces for the second time since taking ownership.
This was suppose to be low funds but its starting to run away with itself a bit... Ah well im learning a lot along the way. Do you have a thread for your 23?
