So - CMS and the first thread you quote say wider spaced holes in the front, the second quote and your thread say wider at the rear.
On balance I`m inclined to go with wider at the front for now but I`d still welcome a definitive answer...

Hope this helps. Cylinders 2&4 (front) have the wider spaced tubes.
Taken from my own RVF.

My apologies for butting in here but I need to ask a question.
I was cleaning my NC30 carbs a short while ago and removed the emulsion tubes. I noticed that 3 of the tubes had the 3 hole setup (similar or the same as the pic above) and the remaining tube only had a 2 hole setup. Is this normal and if so what the purpose of this and what difference would it make if I have all four of the same tubes with same patterns put in.

You're right.... so I even got that wrong! Would the definitive answer not be for someone to buy the type that's still available and then match it to the parts diagram?

This thread on here agrees: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=12131
So does this one:

My carb thread seems to disagree, but I'm not infallible and they were secondhand carbs so a previous owner may have mixed them up, or I may have mis-identified the particular carb as I seem to have used different carbs to show different parts. So, I'll discount that one....
cmsnl do not list the front tubes as in stock.. anymore, but buying just the rear would confirm it for sure.
