sounds sensible not to rush into removing everything. spins up quick without a flywheel, a lithium battery will loose weight and they charge up in no time

Yea I'm looking forward to seeing how quick it spins up when I eventually go for total loss, even just fitting the rvf cams which are under 500g lighter made a noticeable difference. I didn't have the lightweight battery on the list but I will probably invest in one soon, just seen how much weight can be saved just from a lighter battery!

Rick o Subframe makes a huge difference, about 2kg iirc

I've looked into one of those too Marcus, trouble with one of an ally subframe is I'll have to chop the undertray right down and it would mean ill have a nightmare to rig up a brake light securely, I spoke with a few racers at the Manx and they said the last alloy one they had rattled itself to pieces so they stick with a chopped down standard one. I'll keep it in mind for the track though.

Re the brake pads, I have PFM discs on my FZR and have always used Bendix mrr pads. The brakes are unbelievably good for a 22 year old bike!

Thanks for the info mate, I bought some SBS dual carbon pads last night after checking out the PFM website, they are supposed to be the same compound as the bendix ones and hopefully just as good!

A side note regarding aluminium subframe, great if your front running + not too bothered with the expense but when you come off they usually end up bending + aluminium has a tendency to snap when trying to straighten so for rookies its a bad idea, I havnt bothered with an ally subframe this season but will for next as I will need every little gain, if you want or need any help tips or advice racing a vfr give me a shout, just won bemsee sub 64 on an nc30 :-)

Thanks for the info James think I will stick to the stock subframe for the first year or so unless I can pick one up dirt cheap it can wait, have sent you a PM.
