As above,
Due to 20 odd years of now much if any maintaince on some parts its wise to check clutch cable, clutch arm and clutch seleter lever and star (you can get aftermarket star and spring but ive never used one so cant comment)
but from my original post, it seems common that the clutch plates wear small grooves into the fingers of the clutch basket, this makes it harder for the plates to seperate so it keeps some drag on the clutch which is why you cant get neutral so easy.
Sometimes you can just file it level and it will be ok, some people have welded more onto them and filed it down and its seemed to be better after that.
Its never bothered me on my bike but I will be doing the clutch soon, maybe this weekend and i will file down any grooves so can report back what I notice.
