Re: Speedo face
Erm, that NC35 has a redial-uk face on it that is all (DK are just a generic importer, nothing official about them, except they charge high prices and import some tasty things occasionally. )micpec wrote:Hi Kennon! Welcome here.
So you are basicly after this:
Please note that this pic is from an RVF NC35. This speedo shows both in kmh/mph and is fitted due to this nc is one of the official imported in the UK NC35's by DK motorcycles (if I am correct). Maybe you still can order these from DSS/CMSNL/Lings?
In germany/austria and france they fitted the 240kmh-speedo on NC30's as an standard feature (no mph as we use kmh on the mainland). And also extra oil cooler and hugh front headlights borrowed from the RC30.
re-dial are now defunct but used to charge 25 quid plus postage for that face for the NC30 or NC35.

You can see a larger version of the face where you can make out the companies name (redial) in the lower right

Re: Speedo face
Ah ok, maybe such re-dial UK would match with Kennon's request then? By the way, anyone know where these still can be had?

Re: Speedo face
My 35 has a very similar if not identical face, although I don#t recall the web address at the edge. Reading K only would drive me nuts! Fitted by a previous owner.

Redial are now defunct (they went out of business a few years ago) last I heard they had sold all the VFR dials before they went bumpmicpec wrote:Ah ok, maybe such re-dial UK would match with Kennon's request then? By the way, anyone know where these still can be had?

Re: Speedo face
It can't be so hard to do a hi-res scan of an appropriate dial and produce copies, can it? Presumably if a previous producer of such a thing has been liquidated any copyright or patents held on them by the company cease to be valid, unless an individual acquired any rights when the company producing them was liquidated? That assumes they even bothered to protect the design. For that matter, it can't be that hard to scan a Honda KM dial, and use/adjust the scale to produce an MPH or dual dial if you have the right software?

Re: Speedo face
It's been done before.. I made one for the NC24 by getting some accetate for a projector, scannign the kmh dial, ediiting it and laser printing it onto the acceatte.
Then gluing the accetate onto a plastic dial i cut to the same shape.
A lot of faffing about and work and the quality isnt nowhere near as good as a prefab one as its hard to get the right densty to let light shine through in the right places.
For the money its much easier to buy one from lockwood.

Re: Speedo face
I hadn't thought about the translucency requirement on the numbers... this Lockwood lot offer a trade discount on three or more, surely it can't be that hard to find another two people who want one?

Re: Speedo face
Thats what I was thinking.. when i made mine for the NC24 it cost 10 quid for a pack of decent laser printable transparancys and even then i coundlt get it to a good level.. plus you need some plastic to stick it to etc.speedy231278 wrote:I hadn't thought about the translucency requirement on the numbers... this Lockwood lot offer a trade discount on three or more, surely it can't be that hard to find another two people who want one?
I think the last group by worked out at 25 quid each.

Re: Speedo face
I would be intrested in a clock face for a nc30 depending on price though..
