Apparantly they not only circumnavigate the top speed restriction issue but also act as delimiter allowing an extra 1,200 rpm.
Any race men out there with experience of this !!
Or is it "Yes,but source another engine now" ??
I'm not sure where the rev limiter cuts in on a 'normal' FZR400, but my 3EN2 would easily pull well into the red in top with an M-max box fitted. I had seen 15K revs in top on a couple of occasions, due to looking where I was going and not keeping enough of an eye on the revs.

In fact I never once found the rev limiter in any gear, road or track. Not that I went out of my way to try, but the bike did used to get revved pretty hard a lot of the time.

Boris I thought there was someone on here a few years ago that was working on altering the wiring so that the 12,500 limiter could be bypassed.

Phil ;did your box have a 3 wire plug and one single wire each end;?
Presumably just plugs in series behind the speedo head.?
Wire colours dont match but plugs do.
Speedo has 3 wire socket and one single so does m_max..

Came as NOS but unpackaged and no destructions.!.

A lot of people have tried various methods but if you get it wrong you're screwed so stick to the know mods ... Or the speed limit !!!!

Bendy (I think) can doctor the CDI, but the same circuit controls the reserve, and side stand cut out, so it's no so good for a road bike

twas indeed bendy
and his adaptation is pretty much the same as the bdk race cdi (only cheaper ;) as it was done as an exchange ) and does raise the rev range to 15k rpm as well as de-restricting the speed limiter

there's a thread in this section with wiring diagrams of them both for comparison, somewhere (if memory serves of course :o )

EDIT: so the memory wasn't so hot, mind you it was feb 2010 so maybe it was  , no diagrams of both, but a link to the bdk site for reference in this thread viewtopic.php?f=37&t=15835

Will - My m-max came already attached to the bike (3EN2), but it was installed under the riders seat on the nearside of the bike. I can't be much more use than that I'm afraid, although I'll have a look through some old pics just in case I have any showing how it was attached.

Cheers Phil;
pretty sure I checked that location when I initially purchased the item and the connector block was not consistent.
I does fit behind the speedo head perfectly;just block colours do not match.
I subsequently used drive converters which have the benefit of simplifying the speedo readout.
Will probably wait until the spring to test this now= first snow today;over 1" and I am only 1 mile from the sea.
My "test track" is over 1000ft above sea level.!
Thanks for your reply.
