Re: honda 600rr rear end!
Probably not worth it on an NC30/35 for weight savings alone. I wanted to do it to the 750 because the rear brake/hub/eccentric adjuster is a boat anchor, the NC30 hub is much lighter in comparison. I was planning on using the bike for track days only, so everything heavy had to go(except for that lovely V4 obviously!).speedy231278 wrote:I'm a bit confused as to why one would go to all the effort of chucking a different swinger on the back? Yes, there's supposedly a bit of weight saving, but unless it's about 50kg, are you really going to notice? All I can see is that you lose the ability to adjust the rear wheel without having to faff about with multiple adjusters and locknuts, and you lose the relatively uncommon single sided look into the bargain and make the chassis look like everything else. I'm sure there's a reason why there used to be a fashion for sticking RC30/45 swingers on Blades....
Does all the arseache of fitting it and modifying the suspension to suit really have any practical advantages other than changing the cosmetics?
I wouldn't mind fitting one to an NC30 just to get a lightweight 5" wheel on it. I like the single sided arm, but I think the SP2 arm that Lasse has "massaged" onto his bike looks amazing! Too much work for me though!

seen similar threads, often end up the same;
Q: I would like to fit a VFR750 motor into an NC30 frame, can anyone help?
A: why would you want to do that, might as well buy a VFR750
Q: I would like to fit an SP1 engine into an NC30 frame, can anyone help?

Q: I would like to fit a CBR600 fuel injection system onto a NC30, can anyone help

.....think I see a pattern here....

True, there's usually a more straightforward path to getting what you (think) you want, but what's the fun in that?scooble wrote:seen similar threads, often end up the same;

Some people just love to tinker, or just like having something unique. If it wasn't for people like this then internet forums like this one would get boring very quickly! Of course its always nice when someone has the resources to pull it off...

I guess the bottom line is, if you have to ask, then don't bother!

Re: honda 600rr rear end!
I can see the idea of engine swaps if they are done properly and work well, especially if the casual observer can't see the difference (some years ago in one of the mags there was an FZR400 with a FireBlade engine in it). One day I'd like to stuff something a bit bigger into an NC just for the hell of it. Wonder if you could get a CBR11 lump the there? lol

if you want to do something ambitious, then you need to ask questions and be aware of the limitations.
Personally, I love the look of the Tron replica light cycle, it would be a pain to ride anywhere where there is a curve, but it looks cool. Sometimes, I just admire some peoples resourcefulness, engineering expertise and creativity.

Ooh does the tron light cycle motor fit in an nc30 frame?
I just think its good to ask questions like Will a .... fit in a ....? 9 times out of 10 somebody will have tried and/or failed, had the resources and is willing to dish out the advice. As regards thd 600 swinger you have to believe that something can be done, as say an upgrade, either cosmetic or performancewise. Andbesides its always good to dream of what could be.

Re: honda 600rr rear end!
see but what your forgetting is that if the person who is asking for those questions are young..i.e less than 25. then that person cant buy a 750, or a 600. or they could if they wanted to pay 3 grand insurance per year. one of the reasons why i bought an nc30 was because of my age, i originally wanted an r6. but the insurance on them for me at my age was stupidly expensive.scooble wrote:seen similar threads, often end up the same;

Re: honda 600rr rear end!
What you're forgetting there is that a heavily modified bike costs more to insure than a standard one. Doing a engine or whatever conversion isn't going to make insurance cheaper at all.....xivlia wrote:see but what your forgetting is that if the person who is asking for those questions are young..i.e less than 25. then that person cant buy a 750, or a 600. or they could if they wanted to pay 3 grand insurance per year. one of the reasons why i bought an nc30 was because of my age, i originally wanted an r6. but the insurance on them for me at my age was stupidly expensive.scooble wrote:seen similar threads, often end up the same;
