Dublin for now, though i'm currently bikeless. The rvf has been put away for the winter (which lasted since last winter) and my 636 needs some bits.
Sounds like you've experienced the joy of buying a second hand "mint" irish motorcycle!

would a trip up North not be a decent idea?
there are a few "clean" ones about.

is VRT not rediculous?

fook nooooo, i am not that stoopid to buy in the republic!! I.m from sligo but have lived in london for the past 6 years so have always had access to genuine mint bikes

as hanna says, the black north does have some nice one, the british mentality on bikes (the only one to have for that matter)

Lived in sligo for a few years, good few rallys here and there but you'd rarely see more than a scooter knocking around outside the summer.
VRT on bikes isn't too bad, especially if you're looking for an older bike.
Still shouldn't have to pay it!

nothing, i think that the brits have an excellent mentality when it come to mechanical things (cars, bikes, etc)
the British male takes great pride in their bikes and cars and maintain them very well, most importantly mechanically, but secondly cosmetically.
i recommend all my Irish friends but over here.
all paddy wants to do is dogg the fook out of yokes, mole grips for everything!!!

This is true, having done it myself and had a number of my friends enjoy a second hand irish bike.
I don't know if its a case that they're not being serviced, or the fact they are being serviced (by irish mechanics).

Computer trouble so massive delay in getting back about this. Well went all the way over to DK and did not have a great experience. The bike was'ent exactly what it said on the tin either. The sound guy I was dealing with on the phone was no where to be seen. And the chap I ended up dealing with did'ent seem to be that interested. He left me in the garage area waiting on the paper work for ages. And then did'ent bother coming out himself but sent some young lad out with it. The bike had been crashed and the fairing had been replaced with those cheap ones off e-bay. The front brake fluid container is in really bad condition which I find weird? The wiring around the back of the clocks is a bit messy. Looks like a new ignition unit was installed recently also. None of this was mentioned on the phone. After a test drive though it did seem to be running really well. And it is very clean through out, even back of engine/ shock are all spotless. So after a haggle I took it anyway. Its just on the phone it was made to to be the bees knees. Got the whole these are very rare to find in this condition line. Might get around to replacing the fairing with proper honda stuff one day. Wont be going back to DK in a hurry anyway. Should have listened to the advice off this site instead of rushing into it. I'll try putting up a pic when I figure out how.
