Tony, very nice buy! So you planned to get it back to standard UK spec condition hence getting rid of some parts ;)

Tony,
That looks pretty good to me, have you done much repainting.
A friend has just bought one of the best I have ever seen, but it fell over on the van tail lift and broke the fairing.

Now he is the usual position, look for replacements [any colour and repaint] repair the existing, try Chinese [ I told him no] or buy another bike with good panels and swap them over.

I think he will go the repair route then keep looking for some good stuff, as I have done.

Dave, all panels are genuine oe paint and near on mint with no broken tabs, its just the tank that has lacquer peal on top. Ive been meaning to contact with regards to how close the colours are on your bike for when I get round to painting the tank, i may just go for redoing the white only if colour matching is going to be an issue.

Could you not carefully rub it back and just re-laquer it?

Tony,

You would need to look for yourself, as it is hard to judge shades in different lights, angles and curves to decide what does match up, but this is how mine appears to me [correct colour code paints were used, but the fairings are laquered as the tank [should be gloss top coat, not base and laquer] as it seals the decals better.

The front dark blue of the Image works decal matches tank dark blue
The tank light blue is very close to the repainted top fairing shade
The belly pan red is close.
The top fairing white is slightly out from the tank white.

I may get the mid panels done [by the same painter using the same red and blue paint] now that I have the decals and understand how they are painted over at the edge.
Then all fairing panels will match each other and be close to the tank.
The original seat red appears to match, but it is not physically close enough to be sure.

Dave.
