That's how I popped a rod out the side case.
Regarding rev limit - no need to rev past the standard redline unless you have major engine work in my opinion.

I had set my limit to be 14250 on the ignitech so I would ont be smashing things up.
As with you guys - fucked up gear change = the bike eating itself...

Well..finally got round to mine..
Expected the worst...and here it goes!
Loose pieces inside the rocker cover.. Pieces of shim, collet and a rocker finger.
Then..
That will be where that valve head is..

I reckon that's worse than mine... Have you found a replacement?
I've given in and collect a 2006 zx6r on Sunday. With the nc30 gone as well I'll be 400-free for the first time in over a decade. Can't help thinking that the first time I bin it at mallory I'll come crawling back...
James.
PS. Slightly off topic but engine related.. I posted pics of 4 pistons in the For Sale section. They came in a box of engine along with a scrapper I bought a while back. One of the pistons has a graze on the side, the other 3 are fine..Just interested in theories as to what caused it really. The rest of the engine looks fine but I doubt it was taken apart for fun...
