The tool is a 45 degree angled long screw-driver.. you can get it from morgan carbtune.

Theres a thread I posted a week or so ago in the General of this V4 section about balancing carbs with a video of a nice smooth idle ;)

It is mainly for a smooth idle but if your carbs are way off it can make the initial take off worse.

Gauges are quite cheap.. get soem morgan ones.. under 60 quid and will last a life-time... the more times you use them the cheaper the get.

Balance your carbs 4 times and it works out to 15 a balance... even twice is 30 quid a balance and thats what it'd cost to get a garage to do it.

Fitting your hand in is easy.. (if you have small hands) I just use a 7mm socket in my hands :)

Hahaha

Theres also a 90 degree screwdriver, but the kit is $150 Aussie dollar.

Borrowed one from the bike shop next door to do my idle screw, worked a dream!
So I ended up buying one!
