gte the replacement in hand, undo the old one and swap over straight away ive done this on several bikes including the fan switch which is a big old hole, youll not have a proper with the sender, its small and at the top of the engine so wont be much pressure.

make sure the bike is cool before you do this though.

I have just ordered a replacement temperature unit and I will fit it myself.

Can you get to it if the fuel tank is taken off? It's just that on my bike there is a tyga all in one nose cone and mid section panels.

no it will be ok im sure, blip the throttle a few times and the air will come out

Hopefully the thermostat and thermostat switch aren't faulty too.

I have just replaced the temperature sender unit with a brand new genuine Honda one. Now, the temperature gauge needle doesn't move at all, not even a few mm when I turn the ignition on.

Isn't that the fan switch? The Temp sender is attached to the Thermostat.

The switch you bought that goes on the lower Rad is the cooling fan switch! You need to check the Temp Sender Switch and maybe the Thermostat too.

Pull the wire off the sender switch and turn on the ignition, earth the wire by touching it on the engine or some other metal part but do it BRIEFLY, if the Temp needle moves (probably to the end of the scale) the sender switch is faulty!
If the needle doesn't move it means it's either faulty, or maybe a problem with the wiring; check the wiring, fuses and connectors for the guage.

If the engine is taking a long time to warm up, the thermostat has possibly failed to close; that could be the reason why the needle doesn't appear to move at all, so that will need checking too!

It is actually the temperature sender unit that is connected to the thermostat housing, that I replaced. I have tried earthing the wire to the engine. There aren't any fuses to check for it. I guess it is either the wiring or the gauge itself. Hopefully it is just the wiring as that should be a lot cheaper to fix.
