make sure you have a decent battery! if your not sure how old it is junk it and replace it after 3 years.

Keep it fully charged when the bike isn't in regular use (optimate etc)

badly maintaned batteries and even older ones get sulphated up and break down.. they have a harder time taking in as much charge so the regulator has to burn off the excess as extra heat.. they get too hot and die.

The motorcycle batteries are tiny and worked hard and often abused... so look after your battery and your reg/rec will last a lot longer

I got a connector block for about a tenner from a supplier called 'Kojaycat' which you can Google or find on Ebay. They do spade connectors too.

thanks, reg ordered, connector too, battery new (RAC - Halfrauds) get it all fitted by Saturday and on the road!
