The old serial power commanders were very hit and miss when trying to hook them up to a usb connection but the ignitech's work very well using a convertor.

Oh good! I never did get my 5pw r1 motor to respond to any maps with the serial pc3.

Ordering a ignitech from RO today.

Nearly clicked buy it now on jap4performamce ignitech on eBay then realised it was £65 dearer than off rick!

So I am sitting here with the Iginitech hooked up to my laptop and the instructions out. I am lost! The instructions are rfeally not well done..

1). Does the Iginitech need to be powered by tyhe bike to be recognized by the software?
2). Does anyone have the stock and HRC curves mapped out for the RVF?
3). What wires do you hook a throttle position sensor to to get the 100 points of mapping, and how do you program it?

Unfortunately, the HRC map doesn't seem to work like the HRC CDI, so I need to find out why it's different. Any advice is greatly appreciated. The Red graph being the original HRC CDI, the Green being the Ignitech HRC map

Still having troubles. The laptop I am using has Vista. I went to he Ignitech site and tied to downlaod the Vista driver, but it seems to have trouble loading. I get errors about the driver. I get errors about Com Port. I get errors about incomaptible .ign file. Very frustrated!

Yes, Retrofitting TPS to Keihin FCR Flatslides. The Ignitect can do 100 point mapping with a TPS - so they say.


Still struggling with getting to comunicate with the Ignitech. I tried a different laptop with Windows XP - Still no love.

Who is the main source of contact for these units? I need technical assistance to see why I can't comunicate with the ECU. I need to understand what I am doing wrong, or if I have a problem with the ECU or software.

I have gone to the Ignitech site and downloaded the software straight from the site. When I open the .exe software I get a "Com Opening Error". But, the software still opens. It says "no connection".

If I select "Auto" for Com selection, it just runs through all the ports and can't find anything. This is with the ECU on the bike and the bike power on, but the engine is not running.

If I try to open the file "nc35HRC.ign" I get the error: "Unmatched version of *.ign file!" so I can't open the map for the NC35.

If I try to read the Ignitech ECU, it comes up with a "Read Error".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am extremely frustrated.

Ok for a start I think you may have trouble with vista, best to use xp vista is crap anyway. Then you need a serial to USB dongle, you can get serial to USB leads but I've heard random story's of them not working. Load the driver that came with the dongle and go to your device properties to see what port it's been assigned to then set your com port in the software. You still need the USB driver from ignitech.

You will always get a compatibility error when opening the map files because they were programmed on a earlier version, they still load tho.

Ps. Will email those files to you soon as I get to my pc.

I tried two laptops (one Vista, one XP)
I have a USB to Serial Donglr and have tried loading the Drivers for it. Seemed to have loaded fine.
I have downloaded the USB drivers from Ignitech and updated all the Ignitech software from their update page.

I was talking with someone else from the list that said he had the same issues. Said he could load the maps. but had no way to tell that he did. Wow, really? This has to work better than that.

Anyone have experience with the TPS and 100-point mapping? I am hoping to make 3D ignition maps rather than the standard 2D maps.

You sent the TCIP4A software, whic looks much more like I was expcting. I will try it tomorrow. But, I guess we havve been told to use the Honda software. Do you know what the difference is? Maybe this is the problem?
