The only way I can get 2 & 4 the same is with them both off the scale and the only way I can get 1 & 3 the same is with both 1/4 up the scale.

So 4&2 are close but 1 &3 are open?

Is the master screw then supposed to bring the closed two open and the open two more closed so they match?

i think you mean?
once you have 2 and 4 level you then get 1 and 3 level the you balance front (2 and 4) to rear (1 and 3)

when i do mine they are never bang on but pretty close and the tick over seems fine.

Just a thought, have you checked your valve clearences as this will affect your tickover and running?

They steady out a lot when I hold at a steady rpm... I've been trying to do it at idle and this is the best I've managed

Are the 2 left guages 1 and 3? or 1 and 2?
have you got the dampers in, and at the same spacing?
are all the draw off screws tight?
i adjust the idle screw so it revs at about 3k and set from there then rev upto 5 - 6k and see how they are.

The two that are the same are 1 & 2

I've set it up 1 2 3 4

I'll have another go but I don't want to make it worse
