Nc30 and nc35 clutches

There's nothing wrong with my current clutch (that I'm aware of), I was just bored at work, unpacked the 'new' clutch and found it to have one more plate than I was expecting. I'm not sure how much life is left in the friction plates, but I'd change them as a matter of course. The steel plates have slight lipping where they engage with the inner basket, and they seem to me to have had some pretty significant grief. Still, when you pay 99p, you can't grumble too much!

For argument's sake, if for some reason I did need to change my clutch as a complete unit, and the steels in this NC30 one that I have are shot, would it be most sensible to rebuild it using NC30 spec parts?

if anyone does have a NC35 clutch basket for sale please message me? i've got a NC30 and NC35, and i believe you can swap them, but the plate thickness and plate quantity is different so i'm not risking it, rather get hold of the correct clutch basket just incase the measurements of the basket are different etc

Take a look back at my earlier waffling. Both the NC30 clutch basket (22100-ML0-010) and the NC35 basket (22100-ML0-020) were superceded by part 22100-ML0-505. Honda wouldn't specify a part number for a bike if it didn't fit. Therefore, if the 505 can fit both an NC30 and an NC35, it stands to reason that you can use the 010 and 020 parts in either bike too. Especially as others have done so! However, the two inner basket casting are specific to the NC30 and NC35, which will surely be because the plates are different in number and thickness. Therefore, the plates and inner baskets must need to be matched. If you put a stack NC30 plates in an NC35 clutch, I suspect all hell would break loose when it tries to act as a slipper, as the heights of the plates won't match the thickness of the inner baskets and something is likely to snag.

i understand mate, im just saying i'm not risking it like 1 or 2 other people i know have, or by filing it down, rather try to source a new clutch basket :)

Is yours badly worn then? I thought it was perfectly safe to remove minor scoring from the basket using a very fine Swiss file?

i wouldn't say badly worn, but enough that it's dragging and its a ballache to set off on lol, but i'm worried if i file it down, it increases the gap a slight bit, and the problem will get worse even quicker in the end, i think i've found one luckily off another person on here :) so fingers crossed!
