Wow I'm beginning to wish I never started, I have yet to take the carbs apart - these pipes pretty much fell off as I took the off the bike, could this be down to the little rubber hoses (in picture) they're broken and very brittle now.
Thanks again guys.

Okay I have fitted the new loom thanks to ABRmoto, finally got it working though it had a blown main fuse which is now changed, I have to say that although It gets a little fiddly where it passes through under the frame it wasn't to bad a job with the carbs off I wouldn't like to try with them on! Also got round the reg/rec problem by fitting a R6 one, again thanks to a photo put up by Stickshift, again a very easy job and fully the insulated spade connectors fitted nice and snuggly (Maplins supplies these, and it's the blue ones you want), Fitting was a little bit of a pain as it now sits with the fins running horizontally rather than the normal vertically (not sure if this would be a problem).
Anyway just thought I should update you all as your help has proved invaluable - thanks
Only the carbs to go!!!

Matt, it won't be a problem, but there's a simple way to solve it.mattjc wrote:Fitting was a little bit of a pain as it now sits with the fins running horizontally rather than the normal vertically (not sure if this would be a problem).
You just file small amount off the fins (top left corner of the reg in the bad pic below) so that it clears the bump on the subframe, it's soft material and filing it down is a very quick job.
I held mine down with only 1 bolt using an existing hole, it's held on very securely (if in doubt you could always use a longer bolt and a nyloc nut on the back of it).

I found it a pain as the original reg/rec was fitted with two bolts that were welded in place, there were however two more holes on that mounting plate - so I cut off the original bolts and used one bolt through one of the existing holes to fix it in place, I'm happy it seems very secure in place. i'll get a picture up so you can have a look at my bodge job (well I was impressed).
