Some may not like the uneven look of the cans but I love it! I think it looks very moto gp'ish , but whoever designed the system did not think about getting the rear wheel out, its a real battle getting the tyre clear of the brake torque arm thing and the can

one of the system off the bike

o I think the electrical system may just be a dead battery so if when I get the new one from bmc is this is the case then il post up a vid of it running for all to see and hear

ha cheers been ages since I updated this

well I fitted the shock and its transformed the bike and looks so sexy with the tail high up and rs seat, like a proper gp bike

the zx7r subframe is totally finished, although I recon I can shed more weight from it by taking the drill to it without compromising strength (very beefy design), iv made it so all the seat mount bolts are quick release dzus fastners.

I also got some trick yoshimura rearsets damaged from smev that iv managed to straiten so they look very cool and work very well, real quality feel.

the main story tho is that when we went to race it at thruxton couple of weeks ago she was running fine in the paddock, I did a few laps to test the new forks seals were good (they were) and in parc ferme holding for practise it died with a big electrical earth problem which we couldnt fix

so I borrowed a very fast and trick zxr400 went out in minitwins just t qualify (had to do 3 laps) and binned it going into club chicane on the second lap, lost front on cold tyres when a decidly pissed off sv cut my nose off turning in before me ont he outside (I had just easily powered past him and 2 other sv's on the drag up to the chicane

pictures to come when I next go home (at uni atm)

and over winter Iv got Ram air, getting bike fully setup and homemade wiring loom planned

yeh it was, I binned it on the first left turn of club chicane, the marshals were all good lads and really nice and really supportive, ha especially when I mentioned that the bike I just smashed wasnt mine and I couldnt afford to repair it (can now so not to worry)

ok a bit of an update here

after what seems like weeks of evenings in the freezing cold garage I can start to see some progress

the loom is almost finished, just need to wire in the fuel pump and horn test it all (fingers crossed) and spiral wrap everything, iv also fitted the led idiot lights to the clocks

ImageImageImage

the tyga battery box is on I just need to make one more support bracket and weld on, it fitted really well actually, I turned it round and the two brackets lines up perfectly with some pre drilled and tapped holes on the zx7r subframe that held the old undertray. very easy mod and looks the bizz. oh iv also put the cdi in their as their is space with the mini battery and it fits perfect.

the r6 reg has been relocated to over the left engine mount bolt with the help of a simple bracket, should get some really good airflow their too

Image

after what was far too much effort the top yoke has had the ignition loop cut off filed down and sanded to give a nice brushed ally look

Image

the front coil is now just bellow the right engine mount bolt with another home-made ally bracket

Image

Iv got a new mudguard (old was robbed or roady) and its grp so may even be a bit lighter

the ram air kit has arrived from DynoPro racing and iv started referbing (they were in a bit of a state but 4 hours witht he wire wool say to that) rebuilding and modding my spare carbs to fit, iv soldered the brass things up (go from the float bowl to the airbox area) got some 136 jets to go in removed the bellmouths and will set the float heights when then new carb parts come.

ImageImage
Image

gona spray the ducting black before it goes on

things left to do include

cut divides out of carb tray
make undertray
finish rebuilding carbs
fit ram air kit
make number plate mount
get MOT'd
get dyno'd
mabe have lowers resprayed
run braided rear line through swingarm (probably wont happen before I test it)
test it in February
