Re: Reg/Rec advice
Getting between 20 and 26 volts?
Formerly RacingSlug. Felt like a change and it came down to either Biscuits, Ben10 (possible copyright issues) or NinjaSmokeWarrior. The wife suggested TwatMan.

Re: Reg/Rec advice
yep yep thats the one I use.
2005 R6 was the last unit I broguht.. outputs a constant 14.22 no matter what :D
5 Pin units, Positive / Negative at the top then Yellows at the bottom.
And racing slug.
Just an idea, you do have the Meter set to AC voltage not DC voltage? I was playing with a cheapy multimeter earlier as it was the only unit i had to test my connections out... when set to DC it reports half the voltage of the AC (25) as AC switches polarity... cheap piece of crap lol.
If it was on AC your gennys shagged.. I found one out thats a bit burned from the heat but it tests out ok even under load, just gonna stick it in the bike to test it properly :-)

Re: Reg/Rec advice
Ah this is interesting, I bought a 06/07 one you see, looked at a wiring diagram to find it uses 5 wires, got it in the mail and they're actually a 6pin, so I wired it up using the five wires and I only get 14.2~volts too, now wasn't sure if it was wrong or not, but you say you only get 14.2 aswell, shouldn't they be kicking out more like 15v?

Nooo 15v will probably eat away at your battery!!
13.8-14.2 is IDEAL
The 6th pin is probably for when you turn the lights on (the RR provides extra kick)
I wouldn't worry about using it.

Just checked, just in case, you know, *cough*. deffo AC.
I wouldn't care if it's made of cake, so long as it works :)
I've got a job interview in Uttoxeter wednesday (MUCH better pay) so if I can get it sorted by then I'll be er, sorted.
If it's a good un let me know how much you want for it and where you are? I'll collect whenever is convenient?

Re: Reg/Rec advice
Couldn't be lights, as the new bikes don't have the option, and on the diagram it shows 5 wires used, which is why I found it strange, ah well, glad it's working :)Neosophist wrote:bradders wrote:Ah this is interesting, I bought a 06/07 one you see, looked at a wiring diagram to find it uses 5 wires, got it in the mail and they're actually a 6pin, so I wired it up using the five wires and I only get 14.2~volts too, now wasn't sure if it was wrong or not, but you say you only get 14.2 aswell, shouldn't they be kicking out more like 15v?

Re: Reg/Rec advice
Thanks for the advice
just fitted a 02 R6 rectifier. Had trouble with the mounting bolts as they were too short, but other than that its all working now, not to mention this one should last a lot longer
