I just took a standard wiring loom[1], chopped out the unneeded bits and kept the rest, all the connectors are still in the right place and the right type.
Druid
[1] Which cost pennies off ebay as someone had chopped off a couple of connectors.

Iv already promised my loom to brooky tho
and I wanan make a new one, iv had a few electrical problems with this already (althought these have been traced to a bad earth and blown reg rec) and want something new I know their is nothing wrong with.

Im pretty sure they had them, anything i couldnt get hold of i chopped of the standard loom and soldered into the new loom. As for the amp rating i pretty much used 16.5amp thinwall throughout, just check the fuses to work out what load the circuit needs to carry.Spike16 wrote:what amp rating should I go for?

Don't talk to me about bad earths! NC35#3 died at cadwell this year, finally got round[1] to finding the problem and it was a dodgy main earth, touch of copperslip and everything is good again.Spike16 wrote:Iv already promised my loom to brooky tho

[1] This was also the bike I fell off breaking my collarbone which put a crimp on looking at the problem.

Spike, just buy a 100Amp relay with screw-on terminals and do away with the 20 year old corroded honda relay, works perfectly.
Chopped off original connectors is a dodgy solution, that is where the bad connections are not in the old wires

My experience is that it's wires that go but you're quite right that if the connectors are at all dodgy there is no point. Personally I didn't chop them off but removed the excess.

Druid,
You'r right that the wires also corrode, usually the first couple of inches from where the core is exposed, and connectors are LESS than a problem than the wire because they clean up more easily.
I made a few looms by now, and the most reliable (by far) is the one made entirely from new materials and with special attention to waterproofing (superseal connectors are really good)
