Rhory, wasn't referring to the nc35.

I believe this seat unit is based on the shape of the race unit fitted to the 1989-90 F3 works RVF400's:

Not sure really. I think honda wanted to distinguish the difference between their road model vfr's, so designated the works bikes of the same time as 'rvf'. ;)
