No Spark NC30

Hey,

hope this is in the right section....trying to get it going....

testing so far

coils - reading fine
plugs - new
plug caps - were fooked - got new ones
pulse gennie coils - say in haynes between 450 and 550 - reading 380 (shouldnt affect it too much should it?)
all connection blocks cleaned
fuses fine

took plug out and tested against frame and still no spark....

any ideas???
there doesnt seem to be any breakages in the wires either,

The one thing is the ecu has a small indent which looks like something melted the plastic covering a bit.....???

hit me with what yas think!!

Well a knackered CDI will definitely stop your bike from sparking, i've cooked a few in my lifetime with dyna coils.

Maybe someone local can try plugging in theirs and see if you get a spark?

You've checked the obvious. Presumably the engine is cranking away you just have no arcing joy at the plug end.

You could also check your cut out switches, but most bikes won't turn over if there is something dodgy there.

Yeah i have to try and find a decent cdi to try it with...there is no ay to test them either is there??don't tink so

Yep the engine is cranking over but just no spark.....How do you check the cut-out swiches???cant get a multimeter to the wires on kill switch...

now that you say it it will crank over with the kill switch on or off???......ideas???!

Got at the vfr on sat and found the prob...checked the whole loom and found no shorts between switches and cdi..found that when the cdi was connected the coils were only getting 1 to 2 vlots..so there was a voltage drop through the cdi....so new one needed!!

so said id split the cdi just to see what was going on..drilled rivet and opened....seemed to be a small we bit of burning on a couple of the terminals...then plugged cdi back in and hey presto.......we have spark and no voltage drop across cdi!!!

don't know what happened as i just opened cdi and inspected!!...it prob wont last too long but at least i know what the prob is if it does go!!

The reg mite be fecked i think and too much voltage getting to the cdi...that caused the burn inside!!

but at least i no what was up!!!

haha i guess ur selling urs then so alex!?!?!

I was reading your results on the dyno there!!pretty interesting!!so the improved standard map worked better with the normal road spec bike yeah?

how much you selling yours for?

Im not selling mine, I like it too much.
For me its definately worth having it fitted, Its not on there for just 'bragging rights' or 'look what my bikes got fitted', its the power gains its added with just a simple 5 minute plug and play mod. The Ignitech CDI from RickO with the improved standard map is what im using and I highly rate it. (although the HRC -2 map did work very well after a few minor adjustments) The main area where I have seen and improvement is in the initial throttle response when your bashing through the gears or just having a good 'twista-the-wrist', it seems to pick up quicker in peak RPM and the graphs show this well. Remember its fully re-programmable so you can tweak it to your hearts content.

yeah i seen that from the dyno charts....i might get onto rick for one..are his new or 2nd hand?
