Re: CRM's NC30 project - codename EXON VALDEZ
after a short break with little things like trips to europe, starting a new business, and juggling finances, i got up with the intention of getting this thing fired for the first time.
Sadly even with people pulling out the stops to get bits to me, and with everything ready (or so i thought) to get it running today i hit another snag.
The fuel pipe splitter and feed pipe is the wrong bore (not the main tank to splitter) but the fault lies with the splitter and feeds so it aint going to be this weekend,
I could (and have thought about this) take the RVF carbs from the UK bike, and pipe too, and transplant onto this shitter, but i feel thats a slippery slope. where does it stop and what gets raped of it next ? rads ? clipons ? panels ? wheels ?
i could quickly end up with a non running UK bike and a limping project shitter.
However i am seriously considering putting the UK bike back to standard, original UK pipe and carbs, get it setup. then fit all the new old stock panels inc nose cone, mids, lowers, tank, seat panels, freshly coated wheels and fresh 090's and punt it on at top dollar leaving me with all the real scruffy panels (which were going on this) and some quite reasonable panels (which i will keep as spares).
This will free up 3k for the business (dave are you reading this) and its one less bike to worry about. and lets me concentrate more on this project too.
anyway the pics

and yes those clipons are bent indenticaly

so assuming this engines actually got any pistons inside and runs ok without need anything more than a service then this bike has broken the bank. ok i have a bike i have built from scratch which i know inside out which counts for alot, however it would have been cheaper long term to buy a 800 quid scruffer but runner, and use my bodykit.
hey ho, anwyay lets see about this engine first. i am compiling a final shopping list. watch this space.
but thanks goto everyone who has helped supplying me parts for this so far, some for free even. some pulling out the stops to get things to me asap too. thanks guys.

Do you want the original tank breather pipe? I have loads and I mean loooaaaaadddddss of clear breather tube. I can stick that in your package as well but it'll mean that it won't go out until tomorrow rather than today.
Too spensiff!!!

Well a month on and not much to report. still not had it running or done much.
Got up this morning with good intentions of getting it running, but alas i am a few hoses short for the cooling system. and frankly, its bastard freezing out there. just fitted the rads and a few other little bits and had enough.
I may remove the wheel and fit the disks, hell i may even have a crack at turning the front 2 lumps of solid rust back into working calipers, however in the real world prob source some cheap ones as there seem to be millions of working cheap calipers out there.
So as yet, still unsure the engine even contains any pistons or if the dog runs.
Once i have the answer to that question, and assuming it sounds ok, engages gears ok and i can heat cycle it, i will start adjusting and tightening stuff up from front to back.
So hopefully it will get an MOT before xmas all being well.

Re: CRM's NC30 project - codename EXON VALDEZ
*update
Fook me, it only runs*
oil pressure good (well the light went out instantly) and sounds quiet and starts. so apart from having the clutch raped from it then the cover glued back on clearly the engine contains pistons and a crank.
I could be clutching at straws here but i almost feel confident its actually got a working gearbox in there somewhere too with any luck.
* when i say run, i classify run in the loosest terms of the words. it took some coaxing and after a few pops and farts it croaked into life and ran on 2 then the third came in with some persuasion but front left is refusing to play the game so sounds a bit like a VFR800.
