Finally roadworthy but GRRR!!!!

well ive finally sorted my bike and its now roadworthy, just have to get a lid and sort a few little niggling issues, the main one being that unless there is a slight pressure on the button my low beam wont stay on, now im pretty sure it would be as easy as opening up the switchgear and cleaning the contacts but.... ive tried for the past hour and a half to get the screws out of the bottom of it with no luck, theyre stuck fast (i tried philips drivers but they just slid, tried flats and broke 2 bits) what annoys me most is im now going to have to smash up a probably good switchgear for the sake of crappy screws, its terrible really we can put a man in space but cant make screws that dont seize after they have been in 12 months.

does anyone have any tips for this kind of stuff as ive been foiled by similar things before, i assume mechanics cant afford to have to chisel through parts so there must be a way to do it, ive tried wd40 and even pouring hot water over to get it to expand but no joy

1st get a can of contact cleaner. spray loads in, (with ignition OFF) flip the switch a few time to get cleaner in nooks n crannys.

2nd let that dry out and then use WD40 to clean further and lube.

3rd buy a 2nd switch gear from flea bay/GF and fit that if the top 2 dont work

you could try an impact driver or try giving each of the screws a hard tap with a hammer via a screwdriver too loosen them

worst case i can see is to drill the top off the screws and seperate the two halfs'. Then you could get some mole grips on the remaining screw shafts and twist them out?

Extra long (for extra torque) Snap On screwdriver with a shot blasted tip for grip - normally does the trick ...
