Re: NC29/600RR
Nah mate, it's a 400. I chose this kit because it's less hassle to fit than others out there, and looks better-especially the headlights. Just happens to be off a 600.

Thanks mate, I believe the bodywork's pretty much the same '03-'06.
PS I've got a 600 rear shock here I won't be using if you haven't sourced one yet.

Re: NC29/600RR
Cheers lads... praise indeed from Gary who's done more of this kind of thing than most.... frame and swinger are just good old PJ1 satin.
I realise the bike won't be to everyones taste , here's my take on it- I was in on the grey import thing right from the off ie 1989-90; like many others I was amazed by the turquoise/black NC29 that was taken to the Island for Superbike (I think) mag. The crowds it drew are legendary. We hadn't seen anything like it in this country; put alongside our domestic 600 from the era was like a bi-plane/starship enterprise type comparison. Funds couldn't stretch to a 29 which were still brand new at the time, I opted for a 23 which was still extremely rare and trick in this country.
It's testimony to the original design that all it takes is some modern plastics and a few other tweaks to bring this bike back bang up to date, which is what I've attempted here, funds allowing. (It also annoys me a bit when people say "it's just like a Blade"- NO! The Blade is just like a 29! It wasn't available til 2 years later!)
Because in its 20 years it's gone from cutting edge to 'classic' status, for me it's original attraction has waned.
I've done the standard thing 3 times with the CBR, with this one I tried to make it look something like where it would be now if they'd kept making them, in an effort to rediscover the spirit of the original ie thats 'only' a 400 and 400's aren't supposed to look like that!

Re: NC29/600RR
Well put mate! Similar to my train of thought. I got the 400 as at the time it's all I could afford, but them after getting it I realised that what I had read about it being a great bike still stands today is it only takes a few tweeks to bring to closer to todays stuff and as super 400s arnt made any more I too thought it'd be a interesting path to follow to bring it's looks up to date too.
I have alwys had a fire in my belly to build something kewl just to be able to say you did it, turning 28 next year so time to start doing stuff instead of dreaming about it
