throttle return cable

Post by morphee »

just a quick question is the throttle return cable actually mega important on the 35 coz mine had snapped yet again but it was only a universal one, the reason i ask is i need the bike to commute to work and i havent got the cash until thursday to buy a new one :/ so kinda worried if using the bike with it snapped

If its the same as the nc29 one Andy i have one you can have. Its just a safety feature in case the return spring fails, alot of folks dont bother with them as the springs quite robust!

I never use it. If I get abike and it has one I lose it.
How hard can it be?

Yep, I don't use any on my nc30's. Pull cable only. 8-)

I always uses both throttle calbes. I have seen examples where the missing return cable turned out fatal.
Latest example from this year:
Image

The trootle stuck at the end of the straight on this Kawa ZX10 so the rider had to jump off the bike at app 160mhp!

The rider was OK but his leather, helmet and bike was finished. The swingarm was in 2 pieces!

On my own NC35 I have found several stones and rubber lumps under the carbs, and I can imagine what will happenif they block the throotle and I have no return cable.

Ouch, looks nasty that. Obviously he wasn't a 2-stroke rider. Clutch in and hit the kill switch.

BTW - I've not ran a return cable on any of my NC's.

When I rebuilt mine with both cables the bike kept revving up because of the return cable. Havent used it in a long time.

Sounds like you haven't got the routing of the cables correct.
