Pilot screw location

Post by bear4 »

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me where the pilot screws are located on the super four carbs? Its an NC39 model.

Cheers.

If its the same screw as the one I call the mixture screw its underneath each float bowl you will probably need an angled screw driver with a fine cross head.
The screw is made of brass and if they are tight sometimes break bits off.
Hope that helps

Cool, thanks. Is there a plug to be drilled out or snap off to access the screws?

No they are all at the same angle just underneath the float bowl but you should be able to see them ok just awkward to access.
Ps sorry for the late reply been away for a few days.
They look like a small alumium protrusion sticking out and down from underneath the float bowl pointing back slightly towards the rear of the cylinder heads.
If you break one off thinking its a cover basically your up the creek

I can see them alright but there is just a blank head (i.e. no screw visible) Its an NC39 model, could it be that the screw is covered by a plug for emsissions?

If they are the same as the superfour (NC31) there is no cover on but the actual adjustment screw only just protrudes from the aluminium protrusion.
The actual brass screw has a cross cut slot in it and it may well be very tight to adjust ( I have broken one before while attempting to do so)
Try placing a small mirror underneath it to see if you can spot the brass head.
I have pictures of them but cant seem to be able to load them.
