CMSMJ1 wrote:How does it feel changing gear when just rolling the bike? if you used your hand would it make a lovely snick into gear? or is is graunchy?

Can you put it to the linkage basically?

If all that is nice and sweet, not stiff, changes easily then look to the clutch being badly adjusted, technique or chain tension.

Should be an easy fix - does it change gear clutchless as well?
I have now slackened the chain off, tried new boots but still the same thing happens it frequently happens at full tilt in all different gears, ive tried it without clutching aswell and it still happens, any solutions please as its causing great embarassment when i go to my local meet!!

Is it when you change up that there is movement on the gearlever but no gear engages(like there is no gear there)?...If it is i have the same problem and posted about it a while back.I find its worse when i ride to work with my workboots on(big clunky steel toe caps).

Also if you are riding along, before you go to change gear put a little upward pressure on the lever and if you can feel resistance then it will change but if there is no resistance it won't so i just push up slightly a couple of times till i can feel the next gear and then clutch and it will go in :? :?

Its a weird one as it does not do it all of the time...wish i knew what it was :!:

Just check over the bike, chain tension (get a friend to check it when your sitting on it) gear levers in the right place (there are punch marks to line it up) and that the clutch is properly adjusted.

Also, new engine oil goes a long way to improve gear changes ;)

Ive had a simmilar problem when going from 2nd to 3rd at high revs, sometimes it wont go in and ive even bent the toe peg kicking it that hard!!

From what ive been told on the paddock with other NC30 racers its not uncommon!!

And selecting 1st from neutral its realy clunky also..

Yeah thats exactly it. mine is quite bad though, it will take me 4=5 attempts to get it up in the next gear or i have to slow down change down and go back up through the box again! It must be solvable as i cant carry on like it im starting to look a knob who cant change gear properly!!! Ive slackened the chain, tried different boots, checked the punch mark on the selector is inline. the only thing i havent done is adjust the clutch (but it does it wihout the clutch) and adjusted the selecter arm!! come on soemone must have solved this problem?? Can Mr Rick Oliver help??
