I'd go for the KR1s every time - not so sure about the handling but def faster !

I'd say a KR1S is faster, as they weigh naf all, my mates got 3 of them, and as long as you let when up and use good oil seem as reliable as anything else..
Oh and they smell great!!!!!!!!!
Cheers

Had an RS250 after the first time i owned my 35, was definately noticably faster. But if you got the wrong gear coming off a roundabout, 125 scooters would pull away. Kr1s would seize before it got to a corner to prove its agility, that or tank slapper its way into the hedge :).

Re: whats quicker an NC30 an NC35 or a KR1S
I think it's all a bit of a moot point as on these two bikes it's down to the rider when it comes to real world conditions.
Sure on paper The KR1S has as almost much power as an NC30 yet is 60kg lighter. the NC30 has better brakes though...
But like somebody already mentioned, the classic 250vs400 'race' with in the early 90's. The two bikes are neck and neck (nc30) for the whole race.
I seem to remember reading that the race took place after abotu 6 other races so it was more of a competitive mess about.
So on papaer, the KR1s will probably win in a straight line, but out on a track its' anyones guess :)

Interesting but isn't the 35 motor better for pow-wow upgrades?

both my VJ22 and VJ23 RGV's were ace off the line and quicker to say 80, after that i always felt the weight and V4 motor would sail past. first sign of a headwind or a slight incline the V4 just fucked off into the distance.
However i remember the KR1S when i was a teen and they sure were quick - and frankly dangerous too lol. manicly narrow power band.

1/4 mile times will probably back those thoughts up CRM I reckon.CRM wrote:both my VJ22 and VJ23 RGV's were ace off the line and quicker to say 80, after that i always felt the weight and V4 motor would sail past.
I would put a load of money on an rvf being quicker over the quarter mile (nc30 not so confident because of the longer first gear [but closer ratio box]). I would also bet that standard nc30/35's also have a higher top speed than all standard 250cc 2-strokes. Prove me wrong!
FWIW a standard rvf should pull a 12.6s quarter or better. Most 250cc strokers will be in the mid-13s bracket, but this obviously doesn't mean much at a circuit.
In the end both are wicked corner carving bikes but any 4-stroke will be easier to live with as a daily rider. But I still want a smoker as a Sunday plaything...
Far from standard bikes, but check out mj43's sweet footage of his fast race kr1s vs a fully tuned zxr400. Great footage!
