am i being thick?
Just been swoping over the 'theft damaged' ignition barrel on my bike, it looked to be a straight forward swop, remove 2 bolts, unplug wire. plug in new unit and bolt on. However now when I turn the key theres no life. Because of the damage to the unit I had been able to hotwire the bike, so I plugged the old unit back in, tried to hotwire it but no joy there either. Am i being really thick? Have I forgotten to plug something very straightforward in? As far as I could see there was only 1 wire to plug in, should this be working or do you have to do something else, at first I didnt think it would be quite as easy as it looked, as by this logic if you have a spare ignition in your pocket you could just unplug anyones ignition, plug yours in and ride off??? Someone please tell me where i'm going wrong. Thanks.

Yep, that should be how simple it is. On the NC35 at least the connector is under the intake for the airbox, not exactly easy to get to but not impossible either, far easier just to hot wire it.
Have you blown a fuse or something by mistake?

I dont see why i would have blown a fuse inbetween taking the old one off and putting the new one on. I had it running half an hour before swapping it over so it was definitely working. Strange that when I replugged in the old unit it didn't work again though.

That is weird, it should be a plug and play job. Happy to pop round and point at it?!?

I would check over the fuses as when it was hot wired they may have blown a fuse?

Ok so i'll check the fuses. I imagine its one under the back pillion seat area? Is there a fuse in the ignition unit itself that might have gone? It makes more sense that it would be one on the bike as it now wont start with the old ignition, but you never know! cheers for the advice guys.
Oh top job on the switchgear Matt, looks ten times better than my old one!
