Jet kits - whats the best ?
Evening guys
OK this is the situation ..
Bike is slow and currently in bits, well tank and carbs half off.
What I have noticed even at this stage is the amount of crap in the air box and around the tops of the carbs where the velocity stacks sit and if its that dirty in there its bound to be well dirty in the float bowls.
So .. plan is to strip the carbs right down, full can of carb cleaner and make it sparkle again, because I do not want to go through all this again while its in bits I am wanting to put a jet kit in there and some new emulsion tubes because these oval in time and this can contribute to poor running.
So, jet kits ... which is regarded as best for the NC35 ? and where can I get one from ?
Emulsion tubes I will get as original honda replacement parts @ £17 each, the only jet kit I have found is a factory pro one here :
http://www.factorypro.com/Prod_Pages/prodh24.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
CRB-H24-1.0 - Standard drop-in carb kit
This is one of the kits that we made our reputation on.Easy to install and tune - no slide drilling like other kits.
Adds more low-end / midrange, if the proper main jet is selected, more top-end power.
Racer's #1 Choice.
As it stands this is the jet kit I will be getting simply because I cannot find any more details on another one but if anyone knows of a better kit or an alternative option please let me know.
Thanks

Re: Jet kits - whats the best ?
As its not running right now i dont think id bother with jet kits yet. Id strip, clean and return all settings back to standard apart from the extra 0.5mm washer under the needles and HRC springs. Then get it on a dyno and re-jet it properly

I see in the carb picture you can see the radiator witch is not good , there should be a flap there to prevent turbulent air from upsetting the carbs. You don't really need a jet kit all you need is some main jets for the fueling and then some extra 0.5mm washers per needle to even out the flat spot half way up the revs.

Got any pics of the air box cause if you don't use the standard one and filter then that could also contribute to the bike not running well

What he said ^^^^
That rubber flap may look useless but your bike will run like crap without it, trust me i spent days on end taking the carbs off and on messing with settings only to find out i needed the flap in place. Saying that my current RVF runs without one but its not standard and has been setup to run that way.

Rick Oliver's will likely be a better option.400_Rider wrote: As it stands this is the jet kit I will be getting simply because I cannot find any more details on another one but if anyone knows of a better kit or an alternative option please let me know.
A 'jet kit' only consists of new needles and main jets (that you can buy anywhere!).

My RVF runs 4-2-2 JHA System and its jets are 110F/112.5 Rear standard air box/filter with flap in place, but my needles are HRC C Needles and I will be going back to standard with extra washers

Re: Jet kits - whats the best ?
Don't buy the Factory Pro kit - you will get better results with OEM needles. Also I have seen some very worn needles on an NC35 but the emulsion tubes were OK - I think the info on the Factory website regarding worn emulsion tubes is more specifically for Mikuni carbs. Go ahead and check by all means but don't assume they're worn, they might well be fine.
+1 on keeping the rubber flap otherwise run the air box base from an NC30 with a little modification.

A1. It is on the end of the air-box, see my pic below
Where can I obtain the 0.5mm washers?

A4. Rick Oliver again.
Now for my 2p. Why are you changing the needles and emulsion tubes??? I've never seen worn or ovaled tubes on here as a common issue. I'm not saying it doesn't/can't happen but if you can prove there is ovaling in the tubes then yes, change them. What are you running on your bike? If its simply a standard bike with an end-can then put everything to standard and leave well alone. Honda always send their bikes out fueling rich so worst case scenario, if you've fitted and end can then maybe go up 1 jet size.
There is a wealth of knowledge and esperience on here about these wee bikes and one of the most knowlegable is Mr Rick Oliver himself. If you need any help or parts then speak to him.
Here's the rubber snorkel removed, but why would you want to take it off???
