Help! NC35 not running right petrol from exhaust.
Morning all,
I have a probelem (cough)...
My NC35 has been left standing for about 2 months awaiting a new Reg/Rec.
Alas this came on Thursday, and i fitted it, started the bike and petrol was pi**ing out of the condensation hole on the bottom of the exhaust ?? The bike wouldnt rev properly and now im sulking like a baby not knowing whats wrong with it now.
So it thought id pop to my fav site and ask the wealth of knowledge thats here.
Thanks in advance chris

Suppose you left it with the Fuel tap open for two months then ? Just close it until you have to open it again and if the bike Idles let it tick over until its warm just don't let it rev madly go nice and easy it should clear up. You could have a stuck float in the float bowl

your right like a numpty i did leave it with it open, however it is closed now, and when i tried starting it earlier not as much fuel is coming through. So i guess i will leave it over the weekend let it dry up a bit and then try it on Monday to see what happens. If its the same (im no bike mech.) ill have a look at the carbs ??
cheers for the help

You can also tap the bottom of the carbs just to loosen the stuck float then you should also take a look at the fuel tap it could be that its on its way out to.
I'd say keep the bike running to clear it up cause you never know it might be worse if you wait cause you are lucky it didn't kill the plugs best let it tick over until it nice and warm and see if it revs clean also look at the oil that its not full of Fuel

Check that the oil is not full of fuel first. If it is, then change the oil and filter asap. Then you'll probably need to check whether your fuelap is leaking and also whether the float valves are sealing.
Not a nightmare to sort but needs doing.

Re: Help! NC35 not running right petrol from exhaust.
As mentioned above - first check that petrol hasn't got into your engine oil, else you might be risking hydrolocking your engine by running it, which can be all kinds of expensive bad news.
Then if that's all good, turn the fuel tap to OFF, then just hit the starter for ten seconds, then wait ten seconds, and repeat three or four times. That'll "un-flood" your engine. Flick the fuel tap back to ON and start her up.
Then go for a thrash.

Re: Help! NC35 not running right petrol from exhaust.
Hi all,
Checked the oil out this morning and guess what !!! hmmmm there was petrol in there so i have now emptied it all out, some of which went all over the garage floor (not good!) i havent yet took off the oil filter, but will do this when the new one arrives.
So.... question time....
What has cuased the mix of petrol and oil, how has this happend?
Do i still need to clean out the carbs?
Has starting the bike with the oil/petrol mix damaged the bike? it was only a few quick starts ?
How much oil will i need to refill the bike ??
Whats is a decent engine oil??
All help appricated.
Chris
