What are my options for updating my suspension?? do shocks from other hondas fit straight on or is it easier to refurb original?? I'm not sure whats best - kinda feel like i'm been constantly thrown from bike and it s got no feel whatsoever!! any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Think it needs an all round suspension sortin!

I've got an 07 Suzuki GSXR750 shock on my NC30.

Fit's (just) but (big but) the top of the shock fowls the undertray. It pushes it up a couples of inches so you've to modify the undertray. Also worthwhile keeping in mind that the undertray holds the battery and that now sits higher. The negative battery lead will no longer reach the terminal. Also the the seat hooks under the tank and again because the undertray is raised it fowls the battery and the clip needs to be modified. :cry:

The shock is the biz on the bike though. :grin:

There is a natty conversion for the VFR using the Aprillia RS shock, some of the other peeps on here know quite a bit about and do use them, it'll mean a rebuild and new spring but the sachs shock is reasonable quality and a worthwhile upgrade

I would always go for Ohlins, Maxton, WP, Fox, any of the after market type really, but dont be spending nigh on a thousand pounds on one, they are fully rebuildable / revalveable, providing the shock body and length is right for the bike its only £100 - £150 ish quid to have it fully refurnished and rebuilt to suit yourself.

S/H shocks particularly OEM types are by now usually quite tired, more difficult (and sometimes expensive) to rebuild and have less adjustment, I've used Maxton shocks for every bike I've had the quality is great, they are in the region of 800 notes new but with a little patience good VFR ones can be had for 3-350 or a basket case to rebuild 150 - 200.

Best bargain ever was my ZXR fully adjustable and cost only 100 notes again Maxton, a rebuild and new spring saw my ZXR wearing it for less than a third of the price new !

The other thing to bear in mind is when you do have the rear built and fitted it should be tuned to suit you at the shop, anything which needs sorting with your forks will be pointed out to you at the same time, as you say all round suspension sorting is the only way.

been on it today - great until you hit rough roads - which in derbyshire means every 10ft!!

i might have a maxton for sale soon sniff, i'll know for sure in 2-3 weeks.
sorry i see you've an vfr this is of a rvf would it still fit ?
