Buying an NC23...Anything to look out for?
Hey all,
I am a returning member to the site and the 400 scene. Ive got an SP1 at the mo but im looking to buy a NC23 as a winter bike + track toy.
I know the basics of what to look for when buying a bike but is there anything in particular with this model I should check for?
The one im looking at had the following parts done in November 2007:
Full stainless exhaust system
head bearings
forks re-worked, new seals etc.
speedo does not work.
any advice is great, thankyou
Loz

Re: Buying an NC23...Anything to look out for?
think the gearbox can pop out of second if its been hammered.
worth looking to see if the plastics are geniune or not as that adds value, worth asking if its had its clearences done or are they due.
generally regarded as pretty bomb proof tbh
if the speedo isnt working and the cable is fine, check the front sproket cover for where is takes its feed and make sure the plastic gear that the cable sits in is ok as these can break.
either that or the clocks have work i had to replace the Speedo on mine.

Yeah im buying it with the speedo broken but I used to have an NC30 so I know about the little nylon thing on te front sprocket.
All of the panels are original but have been re-sprayed. a few cracks/splits but nothing I cant sort.
thanks for the advice,
